A Touch of Character

Imagine finding a fantastic house in the perfect neighbourhood. Over time, you may find that while you are still in love with where you live, your home needs a little TLC to fully fit your evolving needs.

Such was the case presented to our team on a recent full home renovation of a charming 1930’s home located in the historic Glenora area. Peak Improvements partnered with the homeowners to design a remodel that would incorporate extra space, introduce character finishes, and a more open concept throughout the home. The main objectives for the build included:

• Adding more space throughout the home by removing main floor walls to create a “great room”, creating a dining area, revamping the upstairs bathroom, and finishing the 520 sq ft basement.
• Introduction of classic ‘character’ finishes, including stunning bronze plumbing and hardware fixtures.
• Updating interior features by installing new doors, custom cabinetry, quartz countertops, and more.
• Maintaining the desired original features of the home, including a gas fireplace and hardwood.

Working with older homes can pose a particular set of challenges to even the most experienced teams. Throughout the construction process, Peak worked diligently to overcome and address the challenges posed by degraded concrete, the removal of hazardous materials during demolition, as well as exercising caution when working with existing features.
